I’ve been thinking nostalgically about the time I spent with my father, back when he was still alive, about 30 years ago. We were watching the Miss Universe pageant on TV. Besides the memorable supermodels, I remember that almost all of the contestants gave the same answer to the host’s questions. At the time, I thought they were just “dumb blondes” for repeating the same response one after another.
Their answer was: world peace.
Now, 30 years later, I find myself thinking about it differently. Can you imagine? Seriously — if supermodels from every country were elected, could we actually have world peace? Is it just me, or does it feel like they might be better at ending wars and building relationships across the world? If they replaced today’s presidents, would we actually end up with a better world?
Their answers may have seemed boring and unoriginal, but maybe it was simply the best answer they could give.
It’s definitely something worth thinking about.
